I love it

So, I love it when people walk up to me while I am at work and they go:

"eh-speakay span-eesh?????????????????"

it could quite possibly be one of the most annoying things in the world!  Because I seriously DO NO SPEAK SPANISH.  I swear.  Nothing can be quite as annoying as when somebody does that to you like 37 times in a matter of 10 minutes.

Hurrah!

Here's to you, Pygar...

"An angel does not make love. An angel is love." - Pygar

John Phillip Law, a tall, blond actor who cut a striking figure as the blind angel opposite Jane Fonda in 1968's "Barbarella" and in other film roles, has died. He was 70.

Law died Tuesday at his Los Angeles home, his former wife, Shawn Ryan, said. The cause of death was not announced.

Born in Los Angeles on Sept. 7, 1937, to L.A. County Sheriff's Deputy John Law and actress Phyllis Sallee, Law decided to become an actor after taking drama classes at the University of Hawaii.

He moved to New York in the early 1960s, studied with Elia Kazan at the Lincoln Center Repertory Theater and landed bit parts on Broadway. He went to Europe and found work in a handful of Italian films, where he caught the attention of Norman Jewison. The director cast Law as Alexei Kolchin, a young Soviet submariner who wins the heart of a teenage baby-sitter in "The Russians Are Coming, the Russians Are Coming," his 1966 Cold War comedy set in New England.

Law's next break came in Roger Vadim's science fiction fantasy starring Fonda, who was then married to the director.

Equipped with oversize, feathery wings, Law's bronzed angel, Pygar, shields Fonda's gun-toting, go-go-boot-wearing heroine in her intergalactic adventures.

After gaining notice for his roles in "Hurry Sundown" (1967), "The Sergeant" (1968) opposite Rod Steiger, and "The Red Baron" (1970), Law starred as the ruthless Robin Stone in "The Love Machine," a 1971 version of Jacqueline Susann's pulp novel. The movie flopped.

Law, who mastered Italian and Spanish in his European travels, worked steadily in Hollywood and abroad, appearing in such action-adventure movies as "The Golden Voyage of Sinbad" (1974), "The Cassandra Crossing" (1977) and "Tarzan the Ape Man" (1981), among others. He also had a stint playing Jim Grainger on the daytime television drama "The Young and the Restless."

At the beginning of his career in the '60s, Law lived in a 1924 Los Feliz mansion with his brother, Tom, who had been the road manager for Peter, Paul and Mary.

The brothers rented rooms to up-and-coming singers and artists, including Bob Dylan, Andy Warhol and Tiny Tim, turning the home into a vibrant salon of emerging pop-culture icons. Life at the Castle, as it was known, was documented in “Flashing on the Sixties,” a 1987 collection of photos and text by Tom's former wife, Lisa Law.

Besides his brother, Law is survived by a daughter, Dawn, and a grandson.

Breakfast

Yum Yum.  How could one not love a song about a lovely hoe being breakfast.

It is by the group "Le Le."  And no, it is not French.  They are from Poland.  "Le Le" when pronounced in French is the Dutch word for "dicks."  Songs about food and bitches are awesome.  And the video looks like Ed Banger's So-Me, but its not!  It's actually by a band member who also is a visual artist. Such a dirty good song though! And you can download it here:

Right Time, Wrong Speed

Greetings and salutations, earthlings.
This is a new blog created by the minds of Adrian Giannotta.
Here we will talk of things that we like and things we do not like, as well as things we really like and things we really don't like. So dont expect this to not be anything less than epic.

I wanted to take a minute and explain "the name behind the blog." Laurie Anderson is a prolific and influential artist/musician whose career really started to take off in the early 1970's when she began performing in New York City. "Duets on Ice", was a show she conducted in New York had her playing violin along with a recording while wearing ice skates with the blades frozen into a block of ice, and the performance would only end when the ice melted away. Her first major single was "O Superman," which surprisingly enough reached the #2 position on the UK Charts.

Also, Laurie is an inventor, as in 1977 she made a "tape-bow violin." It used recorded magnetic tape on the bow and a magnetic tape head in the bridge. She also has created a "talking stick," which is a batonlike MIDI controller that can access and replicate different sounds. Oh did I mention she is married to Lou Reed. So to avoid rambling about Laurie Anderson being the coolest person ever, I'm just going to post a link to the wikipedia about the song that I really like "O Superman."

Anyway, John Peel (the man responsible for me discovering most of the music I love today) included the song on his compilation Right Time, Wrong Speed: 1977-1987. So there ya have it, "Right Time, Wrong Speed" is a new blog for you to read or not.
